POSITION:  Accounting Manager

POSITION TYPE:  Full time with benefits

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Seeking accounting professional with experience in all aspects of accounting including general ledger, financial analysis, board/management reporting, audit work paper preparation, accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable.  Position will assist 5 person finance department in all general accounting functions for both the church and school.   Position to be first line supervisor for three staff members and report to the Business Manager

JOB DUTIES

Review all accounts payable invoices submitted for processing for accuracy, correct general ledger designation, meets budget, and has proper back-up support.  In addition, works with staff to ensure vendor list is up to date.

Review all cash receipts, donations/contributions, and deposits.  This includes working with staff on deposits, recording transactions into the general ledger, ensuring monthly reconciliations are completed, and making deposits to the bank as needed. 

Review preparation of twice monthly payroll.  This may include gathering/reviewing of employee timesheets and other pay data, input work into the ADP system, and prepare payroll journal entries. 

Serve as back-up for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to help cover workload during vacations, illnesses, or projects as needed.  Compile and keep updated task procedures for all three areas.

Serve as lead person on continued transition of CBC/PCA to more cashless systems.  Included in this is work with the school foodservice system, Fellowship One database software – online contributions and event registrations.

Assist with monthly financial close process.  This will include preparing and entering journal entries, reviewing system posting reports, preparing financial statements and related reports, account analysis/reconciliations, and distribution of statements.

Assists in maintaining and keeping current the general ledger chart of accounts.

Assists with development, review, and modification of all accounting policies and procedures.

Meet with ministry/department heads monthly and/or as requested to review financial results and research questions that arise for general ledger postings.

Assist with financial security by maintaining internal controls and proper risk procedures.

Assist Business Manager on projects as needed.

Helps direct staff in the implementation of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Stays abreast of the accounting industry by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and researching topics.

Able to work with and serve staff, congregants, and school constituency to resolve conflicts and solve issues as they arise.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

CPA preferred

Undergrad degree in accounting

5 years’ minimum accounting experience required

Previous work experience in a non-profit or church environment preferred

Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
