Philemon 1:8-21

Onesimus is Philemon’s fugitive slave and may have stolen from his owner.

He trusts God to use Paul’s heartfelt appeal for love and understanding.

Philemon’s name means “one who is kind”

  • Essentially: “Onesimus is living up to his name, will you live up to yours?”

The simple and yet powerful reminder?

Jesus changes everything!

  • the gospel changes our entire outlook and redefines everything.
  • We can read verses 17-21 as Jesus writing to God in our defense.
