Let’s study and live out God’s Word together!

Calvary Women Summer 2024

The Lord has been so merciful and good to give us His Word, His Spirit, and His people. We seek to combine all of those in our Calvary Women Bible study classes, groups, and events. Calvary Women will be offering one in-depth Bible study in July and three Book Clubs this summer!

You may register online below and pick up materials in the CBC lobby after the service starting Sunday, May 12th. And as always, you can also register in person and pay for/pick up materials most Sundays, May 12 - August 4, in the CBC lobby after the service.

IN-Depth bible study: esther

In the book of Esther, we'll find the character and providence of God on full display, along with a powerful example of a life lived as an alien and ambassador for God. We will use Esther ESV Illuminated Scripture Journal and an inductive bookmark to study and discuss this book together.

Heidi Fulk will lead this study on Thursdays--July 11, 18, 25, and August 1--at 7pm in Room 302 at CBC.

Book clubs

BOOK CLUB #1: The Seed of the Woman by Nana Dolce

The Seed of the Woman traces the gospel storyline through the narratives of women―from the garden of Eden to the times of the matriarchs, the judges, the kings, the Exile―to the birth of Christ. In this thoroughly biblical and encouraging book, Nana Dolce opens up their lives and uncovers deep truths that shape our daily life and faith. Through the stories of these thirty women, we find our place in the fabric of redemptive history as it unfolds to show us Jesus, the promised Seed of the Woman.

Our Calvary Women Summer Book Clubs will give you the opportunity to read a book at your pace before the two scheduled discussion days. We'll discuss chapters 1-7 at the first meeting and chapters 8-13 at the second meeting.*The audio version of this book is available on Spotify!

Anna Schlect will lead this Book Club discussion on Mondays, June 24th and July 1st, at 7pm in Room 302 at CBC.

BOOK CLUB #2: To Be a Woman by Dr. Katie McCoy

We live in a cultural moment where the definition of “woman” eludes the keenest of thinkers and brightest of scientists, where one’s biological sex and one’s gender are divorced, where the meaning of gender itself is a constantly moving target, and where girls and women, especially, struggle to know who they are. Where societal confusion has naturally ensued from this state of affairs, and Christians especially wonder how to think and respond to it, Katie J. McCoy offers a clear and helpful guide in her book, To Be a Woman.

Our Calvary Women Summer Book Clubs will give you the opportunity to read a book at your pace before the two scheduled discussion days. We'll discuss chapters 1-3 at the first meeting and chapters 4-7 at the second meeting.

Margaret Rand will lead this Book Club discussion on Mondays, August 5th and 12th, at 7pm in Room 302 at CBC.

Dr. Christopher Yuan explores the concept of holy sexuality--chastity in singleness or faithfulness in marriage--in a practical and relevant manner, equipping readers with an accessible yet robust theology of sexuality. Whether you want to share Christ with a loved one who identifies as gay or you're wrestling with questions of identity yourself, this book will help you better understand sexuality in light of God's grand story and realize that holy sexuality is actually good news for all.
