The Basics:
Our Middle School group is called Torrid. This group is for students in 6-8th Grade.
Our High School group is called The Barn. This group is for students in 9-12th Grade.
Wednesday Nights
On Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8PM our middle school and high school groups meet separately. Both groups will have a time to hang out, play games, learn from the Bible, worship, and pray together.
Torrid, our 6-8th grade group, will end each Wednesday night with small groups that are grade and gender specific. During this time they' will discuss the lesson and what it looks like to follow Jesus daily.
The Barn, our 9-12th grade group, has an optional time - every other week - called After Hours from 8:15-9:15. During this hour we discuss life, faith, doubt, hard questions about the Bible, and more. Students are welcome to stay for this discussion or head home after our normal meeting time of 6:30-8PM.
Other Calvary Student Options
Events: We usually have an event each month. Sometimes these events are just for middle school or just for high school, but many of them are open to both groups. You can find a full list of all of our upcoming events here.
Sunday Mornings: On Sunday mornings, from 9:30-10:30, our 6-12th grade students meet together to study the Bible. Students will break into groups to read and discuss passages of scripture while learning how to read and understand the passages in their biblical context. Afterwards, students join the rest of the church body to worship together during our 10:45am Worship Service.
High School Small Groups: Our High School small groups meet on Sunday nights from 4:30-6pm. These groups offer students an opportunity to discuss life, experience discipleship, seek accountability, and help each other follow Jesus together.
Retreats and Camp: We usually offer a weekend Fall Retreat for our High School group and a weekend Winter Retreat for our middle school group. We also usually attend a week-long summer camp called Velocity. These trips allow our group the opportunity to grow closer together as they grow closer to God. You can find more information about these trips on our Events Page in the weeks and months leading up to these trips.
Mission Trips: We typically go on two mission trips each summer. The first is a week-long trip to Detroit with our partners at CDC (Central Detroit Christian - Community Development Corp). This trip is open to 6-12th graders and is an incredible opportunity to serve here in our own community. The second trip is a 10-day trip to Puerto Rico to serve with Praying Pelican. This trip is typically only open to High School upperclassmen.
Our Leaders
We are Phil Woodman and Jordan Baker and we have the privilege of leading the student ministries here at Calvary. We share responsibilities in the Middle School and High School groups. We also have the honor of serving alongside an awesome team of volunteers who are committed to helping our students follow Jesus.
