This Month's Speaker
Jason Hanson retired in 2012 from the Detroit Lions after completing one of the most historical careers in NFL history, spanning 21 seasons as one of the league’s most productive kickers. He ranks first in almost every statistical category for a place kicker in Lions’ history with records that include field goals made (495), and points scored (2,150). He is the 4th all-time highest scorer in NFL history and holds the NFL record for most games played with one team (327), becoming the first player in NFL history to play 300 games with one franchise. When Jason retired he held the NFL record for most 40-yard field goals and for most 50-yard field goals. He is an inductee into the “Pride of the Lions” Ring of Honor and was named to the Detroit Lions All-Time Team in 2019.
In addition to the NFL, after a standout collegiate career at Washington State University where he became WSU’s first consensus All-American, in 2015 he was named to the Pac-12 Football All-Century Team as the kicker. And most recently, in June of 2018 he was inducted into the College Academic All-America® Hall of Fame.
Jason is an active speaker in the Christian community and helped establish Providence Youth Outreach, which helped at risk youth in Pontiac, Michigan. He is married to Kathleen, and they have three children: Ryan, Jessica, and Luke.
