Proverbs 22:19 So your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today. Children are valued and loved at Calvary! We have an amazing team of men, women, and students who are ready to partner with you to help your children know, love, and serve God. From the nursery on up, we have activities and programs for your children on Sundays, Wednesdays, and special events during the year. Feel free to contact us with questions or feedback. We would love to talk with you!
If you have questions or need information about our Children’s Ministry, please contact Bonnie Varney, Director of Children’s Ministries
Children gather in age level/grade level classes for developmentally appropriate Bible exploration, hands-on learning activities, music, and prayer. The curriculum is exciting and relevant, but it is the relationship with loving and consistent teachers that really makes a difference in changing lives!
Children’s Church: 10:45-noon
Children in the Early Childhood Department (2 years old–Kindergarten) remain in their classrooms while a new team of teachers arrive to lead them in more learning activities, Bible stories, crafts, snacks, music, prayer, and play.
Children in Grades 1–3 are dismissed midway through the Worship Service to learn and worship Kid Style.
Children in Grades 4–5 remain with their families for the entire Worship Service.
TINY TOTS – 2 year olds
Toddlers use their sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch to discover the wonder of God’s creation. There are a lot of fun activities to help them learn that God created and loves each one of them!
AWANA CUBBIES – 3-4 year olds
Cubbie Bear and his friends are part of the evening which includes large and small group activities, music, and a Bible story. They work to recite the weekly Bible verse, eat a snack, make a craft, play a game, and receive awards earned. Cubbie clubbers earn special patches to wear on their Cubbie vests.
AWANA SPARKS – K-2nd grade
Sparkie the Firefly helps the Sparks clubbers learn that they can be lights in the world for Jesus. The evening includes a Bible lesson, music, awards time, small groups and special AWANA games in the gym. Children earn jewels for the crowns on their Sparks vests by memorizing Bible verses and completing handbook activities.
GIRLZ UNLIMITED – 3rd-5th grade girls
Our Girlz Unlimited program helps young girls grow up to be godly young women. Crafts, games, cooking, service projects, and lots of Bible exploration activities help the girls learn.
STOCKADE – 3rd-5th grade boys
Stockade, a division of Christian Service Brigade, helps boys grow up to be godly young men. Active games in the gym, woodworking projects, small group times, and more help the boys have a great time while they learn!
Students rock! Middle School, High School, and College are filled with great memories and countless learning experiences. At Calvary, we want to help students own their faith, develop passion for loving God and serving people, and begin to replicate themselves in others. We’d love to have you join us for a ton of fun, to make some new friends, and to be challenged by God.
Torrid is a bunch of Middle School students (6th-8th grade) who have a lot of fun together. We love Jesus, want to live for Him and share Him with our friends. Our full name is Torrid De-Shi, which means passionate disciples, on fire followers, or a follower of the Master; but we usually just go by Torrid. Our hope is that you meet Jesus in a real and personal way and enjoy the journey He has for you. We’d love for you to check out our website to learn more about us and find out what’s coming up.
Students can get involved in all sorts of opportunities, but if you’re starting out with Torrid here’s a couple things we recommend:
Torrid | Wednesday nights most of the school year | 6:30-8 pm | Room 303
Torrid is a high-energy night that you’ve got to check out. We’ll play some stupid games (yes, we know they are stupid, but they’re still fun). We’ll also have music, time to hang out with friends, family groups, a lesson, and a snack. It’ll become the highlight of your week.
Disciple U: MS | Sunday morning | 9:30-10:30 | The Barn
Disciple U is a chance to dig into God’s Word. You’ll want to bring your Bible as we will get into it every week to better understand what God is teaching us. We do take a break during the summer, but meet most of the year.
If you’ve got other questions or need info, Phil Woodman would love to talk to you and help you out.
At the Barn, we want to follow the one who said, “Follow me.” We love God and love people. Our desire is to create a place where kids can feel safe, grow friendships and focus on what truly matters in life (Jesus). We hope you’ll first come and visit and then find that you are home. The Barn is a place where everyone is accepted for who they are. Come and experience what the Barn is all about and let us serve you!
The Barn | Wednesday nights most of the school year | 6:30-8 pm | The Barn
Disciple U: HS | Sunday morning | 9:30-10:30 | The Barn
For additional information on High School, please contact Phil Woodman with your questions.
As the College & Career Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, our desire is to develop committed followers of Christ, who love God and love people. We want to help college-age students grow to know God more and more each day. We want you to care for people, meeting needs however you can.
Teleos meets on Sunday evenings at 6:30 in the Barn. To find out what’s going on, see what we’re studying, or get connected, check out our Facebook group.
We want to see people discover God in real and new ways as well as connect with people who will journey with you. We hope you will connect with the Word of God and the people of God through opportunities at Calvary.
Disciple U will help us take ownership of our own spiritual growth: equipping ourselves to be disciples, engaging one another in growth, entering into opportunities to be His witnesses in our communities.
Disciple U will develop a biblical framework for life, build a theological foundation, advance in spiritual formation, grow relational skills, and strengthen a stewardship mindset.
Our teaching ministry builds in each of these areas as we live out biblical truth together.
Disciple U will equip you with…..
- Biblical Framework: applying the wisdom gained through books, themes, principles and people of Scripture in living out a biblical worldview.
- Theological Foundation: building a doctrinal grid to be able to discern truth from error.
- Spiritual Formation: understanding the role of identity, Holy Spirit, the Word, and community in the pursuit of Christlikeness and a Great Commission lifestyle.
- Relational Skills: unpacking how love is lived out in relationship to those around us and how we share Christ with those who do not know Him.
- Stewardship Mindset: living out our time, gifting, talents, abilities, and resources as entrustments from God to be used in service to Him and those around us.

Global Outreach at Calvary Baptist Church
We believe that the purpose of all Christian endeavor is to glorify God (2 Cor. 3:18; Rev. 4:11). God is glorified when people everywhere submit to His will.
To this end, we determine to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19, 20), first given to His disciples and continuing as the Church’s on-going directive until He returns.
We believe that the Great Commission is obeyed when people are introduced to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (evangelism) and when they are assisted in spiritual growth by obeying Christ (discipleship). The Great Commission gives the responsibility to each believer to be a world Christian—one who is responsible for both witness for Christ at home as well as support of evangelism and discipleship around the world.
We believe that the Book of Acts clearly presents global outreach (home and abroad) as being accomplished by local churches. These local churches select, send, and support partners to evangelize and disciple peoples of other cultures with a view to starting other local churches and bringing them to maturity.
Therefore, Calvary Baptist Church will endeavor to continually seek out those Christian workers from our local body who are qualified, to commission them as our global partners and to help support their efforts both prayerfully and financially in obedience to the Great Commission. We will also endeavor to help support other qualified global partners who are able and willing to be accountable to our local body.
To glorify God (Psalm 96:3)
To fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:16-20; Mark 16:15; 20:21; Luke 24:47; Isa 49:6)
To bring men to a saving knowledge of God (3 John 3:16-18; Romans10:13-15)
To obey Christ by confessing Him to the world (Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16)
To serve in the development of His Church and Kingdom (Matthew 16:18; Mark 14:14,15; Ephesians 4:11,12; Acts 28:30,31)
To minister to the totality of human need (Mark 9:41; 2 Cor. 8:1-4)
