COVID-19 Update

Calvary Family,

Over the last two months the State of Michigan has seen significant improvements in various metrics relative to the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of new positive cases, patient census in critical care units and COVID-related deaths are all continuing to improve dramatically.

Back in early November, the Elder Board developed a 3-phase plan to reduce our church’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols when the severity of the disease lessened. Marker points were developed around the single specific metric of a seven-day rolling average of COVID-related deaths. In mid-December, that number had reached an average of (126) deaths per day, which was connected to the second surge of the pandemic. This week we are hovering in the range of the low 30’s and into the high 20’s. Our first phase of reductions begins when we have sustained 7-day averages below 20, with continued protocol reductions at 15 (Phase 2) and 10 (Phase 3).

In summary, we’re seeing a significant improvement in COVID metrics and will be taking the above actions consistent with the Elders’ agreed-to plan. We will specifically notify you when we cross each of these marker points and make you aware of changes that will take place within each of the phases. If you are interested in following the metrics daily, a convenient location is COVID-19 Data | ClickOnDetroit | WDIV Local 4.
